Answers about free use, lifetime purchases and the future of your archive.

Can I use MailVault without a subscription?

Yes. Reading, composing, replying, searching and manual archiving are free forever. Premium is optional and adds automation and advanced tools. If you cancel Premium, your saved mail remains yours and the free features remain available.

Do you offer a lifetime or one-time purchase?

There is no lifetime plan today. The developer has not decided whether to offer one. Monthly and yearly Premium subscriptions help fund ongoing maintenance and support. A lifetime purchase brings revenue once while costs can continue for years; relying on new sales can put future updates at risk.

What happens to my emails if MailVault stops development?

Your local archive files remain on your computer independently of the business. With the default Maildir storage, each email is a standard .eml file that compatible mail apps can open. If you use optional JMAP storage, you can convert to Maildir in Settings while MailVault is available. Future operating system changes could affect the app, so keep independent backups of your archive. MailVault’s developer uses it every day and is committed to maintaining it for the long run. The source code is public for anyone to inspect.
