Free and Premium

What every MailVault user gets for free, and what MailVault Premium adds on top.

Is MailVault free?

MailVault is free for core features including email reading, composing, search, threading, local archiving, and manual backup. Premium features — scheduled automatic backups, cross-account mailbox migration, and auto-cleanup rules — are a paid add-on. See the pricing page for what each plan covers. The source code is available on GitHub.

Can MailVault block email tracking pixels?

Yes. Every message MailVault opens is checked for tracking pixels — the hidden 1x1 images marketing mail uses to report back when you open it, how often, from which IP address and on which client. A small eye appears beside the subject on any message that carries one, and clicking it names the tracking company and shows the exact URL the pixel would have called. Detection is free for everyone. MailVault Premium also strips those beacons out of the HTML before the message is rendered, so the request is never made and the sender is told nothing. Nearly 500 known tracking endpoints ship with the app; the list is bundled and updated in releases, never fetched from a server at runtime. See how it works, before and after.

Is Scheduled Send free?

Scheduling an email for an exact date and time is part of Premium. Delaying a send by up to 5 minutes is free, per email with the menu next to Send or for every email with Send Delay in Settings. Emails already scheduled still go out if a subscription ends. How Scheduled Send works.

Can I share screenshots or record MailVault without showing who I email?

Yes, with Premium on macOS and Windows. Privacy mode is the shield button in the sidebar, next to Focus, or Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+P. While it is on, names, email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses are masked in the message list, the reader, message bodies, threads, chat view, sidebar account names, attachment filenames and notifications. Matched names, addresses and phone numbers are also masked in subjects and previews. Hold Option (Alt) to peek at the real text. The raw source view and Open in window are blocked while it is on, and the recipient and subject fields in Compose are hidden. To share a single email, Export has a Redact sensitive info option: images blur or black out the same details, and HTML gets black bars with links and remote images stripped. The Social format (Premium) turns one email into a ready-to-post PNG, as an email card or the whole app window, on a gradient, solid, custom or your own picture background, sized Auto, 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 or 9:16, with a window frame, shadow, padding and corner controls. Redaction is on by default, and always on while privacy mode is on. The whole email always fits the image. Appearance (Light or Dark, your app's theme until you pick one) styles the frame, the card's header and the app window shot, and the card's email content can be Light or Dark on its own. What it does not catch: names come from your contacts and from message headers, so a person who is only mentioned by name in a body and never appears in any header is not masked. Text inside images, such as a photographed signature, a scanned PDF or a screenshot in a message, is not detected. Avatars are not masked. An export renames attachments but does not redact their contents, so redaction starts with attachments off. The body of the Compose editor, including a quoted reply, is not masked. Check the result before you post it.
