Scheduled Send

Write an email now and have MailVault send it at an exact date and time, in any time zone. Scheduling is part of Premium; a send delay of up to 5 minutes is free.

What is Scheduled Send?

Scheduled Send holds an email you have written and sends it at the date and time you choose, in the time zone you choose. In Compose, click the arrow beside Send to open Schedule send, pick the date and time, check the time zone below it, and click Schedule.

Tomorrow 8am and Monday 8am fill in the time with one click, in the time zone you have chosen.

Can I schedule an email in someone else’s time zone?

Yes, in any time zone. The list shows each zone with its UTC offset, for example (UTC-04:00) New York, and you can search it by city or by offset: type +2 to see the zones two hours ahead of UTC. The offset shown is the one in effect when the email is sent, so a send after a clock change is labelled correctly.

Below the fields, MailVault shows the time now where you are and in the chosen zone, and when the email will go out in your own time. You can check an 8:00 AM send in New York against your own clock before you schedule it.

How does MailVault know the recipient’s time zone?

It suggests one, and you can always pick another. Every email carries its sender’s UTC offset, so MailVault reads the offset in the last email the first recipient sent you and picks the matching time zone. A note under the field says the suggestion came from their last email. One offset can belong to several places, so check the city.

If they have never written to you, MailVault uses the zone you last chose when scheduling an email to them. With neither, it starts from your own time zone. A zone you picked yourself is never replaced.

How do I change, reschedule or cancel a scheduled email?

Scheduled emails wait in the Scheduled folder in the sidebar. Click one to open it in Compose and change the recipients, the text or the time. It stays scheduled as it was until you save your changes.

Each email in the folder also has buttons to Reschedule it, Cancel it, or Send now.

Does MailVault have to be open for a scheduled email to go out?

Not if it can keep running in the background. Scheduled emails are sent by MailVault’s background helper. Turn on Keep running in the background in Settings › Background Daemon and the helper keeps running after you quit and starts when you log in, so emails go out on time while the app is closed.

If that setting is off, or your copy of MailVault cannot keep running in the background, a scheduled email goes out the next time you open MailVault. The Scheduled folder says which applies to you and links to the setting.

What is free, and what needs Premium?

Scheduling an email for a set date and time is part of Premium. Delaying a send by up to 5 minutes is free: per email with the menu next to Send, or for every email with Send Delay in Settings.

Without Premium, the Schedule send panel says so and offers Upgrade. See what Premium includes.

What happens to scheduled emails if my subscription ends?

They still go out at the time you set. Editing and rescheduling them need Premium again, but you can still send one now or cancel it from the Scheduled folder.
